Zabaglione alle Mandorle

Updated: Dec 18, 2024

This is the part of our 2024 project: The Alphabet Challenge. Hosted by Wendy of A Day in the Life on the Farm, I thought this would be a fun culinary adventure. And here we are at the final letter. This has been fun.

Z is for...

Zabaglione alle Mandorle

Some people might object to this as a true Italian zabaglione since I didn't cook it over a double-boiler, so, perhaps it's more similar to a Dutch advocaat. But whatever you want to call this, it's a delicious way to end a meal.

Ingredients

  • 5 egg yolks

  • sprinkle of salt

  • 2/3 cup organic granulated sugar

  • 2 teaspoons almond extract

  • 1/4 cup Frangelico

Procedure

Beat the egg yolks, salt and sugar until thickened. Slowly trickle in the Frangelico and almond extract. Keep beating. Pour the mixture into a saucepan and warm over a low heat, continuously whisking. It is ready when it coats the back of a spoon. Serve the zabaglione in small servings!

The Alphabet Challenge So Far...

My posts are below with links to everyone else's recipes. I skipped letter 'F' apparently. Enjoy!

Call it whatever you want, it looks delicious! I remember eating it when I was a kid at my Italian grandmother's house, have never tried making it myself but now I want to!

Aside from the Frangelico, this reminds me of my grandmother's eggnog, cooked stovetop. Please pour me a glass!
